how many more broken windows do we need before the film and video industry is completely f***ed?
At Veredictum, we are committed to solving film piracy and video theft, with our objective to “Reduce film and video piracy by 80% within 10 years.” It’s an ambitious project, but the way in which we are approaching the problem is different. We aren’t approaching the problem with “Whack-a-Mole” style that you see at the fairgrounds. Instead, we are attacking the drivers that actually cause piracy and theft in the first place.
Instead, we are attacking the drivers that actually cause piracy and theft in the first place.
Whilst piracy and theft is a very complex issue, it can be distilled down into two core elements:
Not being able to get access to content, when you want it, how you want, and at a price point that is fair and reasonable
Because there aren’t enough deterrents in place.
So why should we care about piracy?
We’re not here to preach to you that piracy is theft – because, let’s face it, deep down you know that already. Instead, we want to throw some ideas out there that help you understand more about how piracy affects the creative community as a whole, and what will happen if piracy continues its downward spiral…
Whilst you may think piracy just affects the big Hollywood film studios or Record Companies, it actually affects everyone in the creative community.
To produce great quality content, whether that is film, music, art or photography involves dedication to your craft, slaving for hours behind the scenes to fine-tune to perfection your creative opus. You put your heart and soul into creative ideas, to craft great stories that pull at our heart strings, that tear us apart and scare the sh*t out of us.
